ABOUT US

The UH Honeybee Project conducts pure research on bee biology and bee health and responds to the needs of beekeepers and farmers that utilize honey bees for honey production and crop pollination.

Our research includes:

    1-Natural mite resistance in honeybees

    2-Temperature stress in desert honeybees

    3-Africanization in honeybees

    4-Supplemental bee diets

Our outreach and extension efforts involve the development of locally appropriate techniques for bee management.
Biosecurity involving early detection of Africanization.

Our education efforts focus on two audiences, students, and stakeholders Students: We are strongly committed to the education of the local youth; from kindergarten to high school students, we have provided school visits and have occasional internships available.
